Alpacas

Since 2011, Silos Estate has established a working alpaca farm, and now hosts the largest outlet on the South Coast for local alpaca producers – the Berry Alpaca Store. Supplying a range of produce from wool all the way through to scarves, pillows and doonas, we also supply a limited range of meat products (subject to season). All alpaca produce is available for purchase or can be ordered and shipped.

While our interest in the industry and love of Alpacas began before the current owners moved to the South Coast, our serious commitment to genetically pure best-of-breed commenced in 2012 with our main partner Millpaca (also based in Berry).

At Silos Estate we concentrate on breeding Huacaya alpacas, which is the most popular and in-demand breed of alpaca in the world. This breed is characterised by a curly fibre with a dense fleece – and as befits Silos Estate logos – just concentrate on solid whites and pure blacks.

Guests are welcome to feed the alpacas when staying on site.
